Amber Technology has appointed Tecksel as a new distributor to reach the IT channel, following a split with Alloys International early last year.
Under the agreement, Tecksel would market Amber’s range of Optoma projectors to the IT reseller channel.
Tecksel joins Sydney-based distributor A Brighter Image on Amber’s distribution list. A Brighter Image sells the Optoma products to the audio-visual channel.
“Of everyone we spoke too, Tecksel made the best case and is our primary IT distributor at this point in time,” said Rod Sommerich from Amber.
The arrangement with Tecksel was not exclusive, but Amber was “not in discussions with any other distributor,” Sommerich said.
Over the past 12 months, Amber had been selling direct to some resellers who were buying the Optoma products in “dribs and drabs,” he said. These resellers would now be buying through Tecksel.
The Optoma range from 1kg XGA products through to SXGA+ products with 1400x1050 resolutions at 3500 ANSI lumens.
Amber recently launched Movietime DV10, an integrated DVD player with a DLP projector.
