Adelaide-based emt Distribution has been appointed a master distributor for US-based security vendor Thycotic.
Emt will have access to Thycotic's entire portfolio of solutions and will cover the whole of Asia-Pacific. Currently, emt is the only Thycotic distributor in Australia.
In order to support the new agreement, emt hired five dedicated Thycotic sales and support staff. Emt will attend onsite sales meetings alongside partners, run walk-throughs and tailored demonstrations for end-users and help partners manage the Thycotic deal registration process.
According to Scott Hagenus, emt's chief marketing officer, demand for privileged account management solutions is growing among government and enterprise organisations, with SMBs and mid-tier enterprises not far behind.
"Organisations are waking up to the fact that traditional cyber security defences like firewalls and anti-malware are struggling to combat the rising tide of targeted attacks. Privileged accounts are the keys to the kingdom.
"Organisations need to know how many human and non-human privileged accounts they have, who has access to them, restrict that access and lock down the passwords that protect them. Putting in it plain terms, you can have the best locks in the world, but they won’t help if you leave the keys under the doormat," Hagenus said.
Thycotic provides privileged account management systems which help prevent cyber attacks by securing passwords, protecting endpoints and controlling application access. The company has a local office in South Australia and also in the US and the UK.
Thycotic vice president international Simon Azzopardi said: "Privileged account management is one of the top four mitigation strategies used to meet the needs of the Australian Signals Directorate. It is a perfect opportunity for our channel partners in the region to be seen as trusted advisors. Emt Distribution plays an important role in empowering and connecting with the channel."
Emt was founded in 2008 by Richard Rundle who is also the chief executive and co-founder of Airlock Digital.
The distributor employs 20 staff in Australia and is present across the country through its network of 500 channel partners.
Specialised in security, the distributor works with several vendors including Airlock Digital, Flexera Software, ThreatTrack Security, Temasoft, Acunetix, CoCoSys, Delta TSL, and Picus Security.
