Adam Internet increases download limits

ISP Adam Internet will increase download quotas and double shaping speeds courtesy of a new Optus Wholesale deal.

Managing director Scott Hicks said that higher limits across its plans had been driven both by the price reduction and also the trend for rivals to launch "unlimited" plans.

While Adam would "never be an unlimited ISP", Hicks believed the ISP's customers "needed a bit of a bonus".

Data limits would double for the lower-end plans. The "most popular plans" would see data limit increases of around 20 to 40 percent, Hicks said.

Shaping speeds were expected to rise from 64 Kbps to 128 Kbps "in the coming weeks".

"It means that if a customer goes over their monthly data allowance, they will experience a better reduced internet speed," Hicks said.

Data increases would occur on customers' accounts automatically.

Adam was the second ISP to secure better Optus Wholesale pricing in a week. Internode last week cut a deal with Optus that will allow it to slash the prices of its ultra symmetric high-speed DSL (SHDSL) broadband plans by as much as half.
