Activeport to raise $3.6m

Activeport stated that it has received "firm commitments" for an approximately A$3.6 million equity raising from a mix of institutional and sophisticated investors.

New strategic and substantial shareholders include Antipodes Partners, a Sydney and London-based global equities manager and Scobie Ward, co-founder and former chairman of Ward Ferry Management, an Asian long-only equity manager.

"This is a defining moment for Activeport, supporting new management to drive the company forward,” said executive chair and chief executive Peter Christie.

“The calibre of investors backing the Company, including Antipodes, MWP and Scobie Ward, is a powerful validation of our business plans. Strong institutional demand meant we were able to scale-up this placement to accelerate Activeport's growth.”

So far this year, the company has made Global Edge available to international telcos; extended an agreement with Telstra for the licensing of the company's SIG to government agencies; and teamed up with FirstWave Cloud Technology to partner with an unnamed Australian neocloud operator to give large enterprises and government secure, high-performance access to GPU compute over the nation's largest carrier-grade networks.
