Cybersecurity firm Acronis has named Terry Christie as general manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Christie brings more than 25 years of IT and cybersecurity experience to the role, having held senior positions at technology companies including Nitro, Aruba (HPE), Commvault, IBM, Lenovo, Samsung Electronics, and Ingram Micro.

He replaces Kelly Johnson who left Acronis in April this year, moving to Pax8.

His remit includes shaping strategy for service providers delivering integrated security and remote monitoring and management capabilities.

"The market is evolving rapidly, and Acronis' unified platform — combining backup, disaster recovery, endpoint protection, and cybersecurity — is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of modern businesses," Christie said.

Acronis said it had seen 40 per cent year-on-year growth with its artificial intelligence-powered cyber protection platform across the ANZ region.

Alongside Christie's appointment, Acronis has named Pete Bouris as strategic partner account manager for the region.

Bouris will concentrate on partner recruitment and enablement across Australia, drawing from his experience as former head of small and medium business sales ANZ at Veeam.

His background includes roles at Arcserve and StorageCraft, with particular expertise working with managed service providers and managed security service providers.

Acronis currently supports more than 600 partners across the ANZ region.
