Backup and disaster recovery vendor Acronis has recruited Neil Morarji to lead its Australian and New Zealand business as general manager.

Based in Sydney, Morarji's remit will include working with service providers and Acronis' distributors, Synnex, Ingram Micro, Rhipe and Exeed.

Prior to joining Acronis, Morarji helped to establish the Australian presence for virtualisation and hosting automation firm Parallels in 2009. Acronis and Parallels were both founded by Serguei Beloussov.

He joined Ingram Micro's cloud platform business, Odin, another business founded by Beloussov, as general manager in 2015, where he was responsible for professional services and alliance management for APJ.

Morarji told CRN he was happy to return to his roots at the Acronis-Parallels family and aimed to enhance the vendor's relationship with its major service provider partners, such as Telstra and Optus.

“I’m excited to turn the company’s global strategic thinking into a local execution plan and accelerate business growth in Australia and New Zealand," said Morarji.

"The market is mature and ready for our products. We have the best technology and we’re going to build our brand by providing excellent service and fanatical support to our new and existing customers.”

Morarji's appointment follows a double hire at Acronis in December last year, with two channel managers Julie Malcolm and Edith Kan, taking the roles of ANZ channel sales manager and distribution channel manager, respectively.

Acronis recently launched its new partner program aimed at increasing profitability for resellers and distributors.

Acronis APAC vice president Steve Goh added: “Neil brings strong leadership and a wealth of experience to our Australian team. His market knowledge and understanding of Acronis technology is going to propel our business into the future.

"We’re bringing the world’s best data protection solutions. With Neil’s management, we’ll continue to build our team and extend our presence in the region.”
