The leaked Acer Iconia A200 advert (below) was real! The Ice Cream Sandwich-ready tablet is coming.
According to the video below, tablets are the building blocks of families, and the A200's USB port could be the difference between familial bliss and certain death in a lonely ice forest. Or Acer could just be saying its A200 brings the joys of USB and microSD to a 1280x800 screen for all the family. It's hard to tell, we were too busy gagging at the faux sentimentality on display.
This family must be a patient one though, as the A200 will be chugging along with the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core, while its bigger A500 brother boasts the quad-core power of a Tegra 3.
As there’s no word of an A201 model, it’s likely the budget A200 will only be available with Wi-Fi connectivity. But with an HDMI connection as well as Acer’s wireless DNLA streaming software, there are plenty of ways to connect it to other devices. The A200's OS is overlaid with Acer's own skin, Acer Ring – stop sniggering at the back – which lets you access apps from any screen.
The company confirmed the tablet will also arrive on Australian shores, but did not provide a timeframe by time of publication.
The Iconia A200 will be available in red and grey.
