COMMENTARY: Rumours, truth and innuendo
Vegas baby yeah!
Our friends at Acer Computer want to send some lucky punters to the city of shotgun weddings, gambling, topless showgirls, bright neon lights and bad Elvis impersonators - good old Las Vegas!
Reseller salespeople with the highest Acer sales will win an all expenses paid junket to the big, sleazy city, hosted by Acer staff. Apparently, there are places for more than 25 channel sales staff plus their partners up for grabs.
When you go to Vegas, you have to gamble - responsibly of course. The Shadow wonders whether the folks at Acer will throw a little extra in for some chips for channel winners at the tables.

Dell offering AMD
Dell is Intel-only inside. But for how much longer? The direct PC company's US operation is offering some packaged processors from - gasp - AMD on its website. Is this the start of something big(ger)?
Dell says the Athlons now in its inventory are available only in retail packaging and not in Dell systems. But the company is 'constantly evaluating' new technologies.
What's the dealio? Sun, HP et al. offer some AMD-based lines. The prevailing wisdom is Dell uses the AMD threat to keep Intel prices and terms in check.
