DevOps, IoT and analytics will drive server demand: Computer Merchants

With Computer Merchants' marketing manager Jenna Brooker.

What server brands do you specialise in?

The server vendor partners that we support and value-add with services are Cisco, Dell EMC, HPE, IBM, Lenovo and Oracle.

When did your company first get involved in this area?

Since 1979, Computer Merchants had been a customer-focused used hardware partner. In 1998, we became an IBM business partner supplying and supporting new server equipment across the Asia-Pacific region. We have since grown our vendor partners to cover all server brands.

What certifications do you have that apply to servers?

We are certified in both sales and technical in all the specific server vendors we market.

Which distributors do you use?

Avnet, Ingram and Dicker Data are three of our main server distributors. They each add value to the solution that Computer Merchants provides for the satisfaction of our customers.

Have you heard about any cool developments in the server space recently?

We are starting to see customers achieve fantastic business value from DevOps, IoT and analytics, which collectively drive greater demand on servers. Moving forward, AI will create more demand. In addition to this, there are new technologies to come, such as quantum computing.

Can you tell us about a recent deployment you have done?

Computer Merchants recently delivered a solution for high-end IBM Power servers into a customer's Sydney-based data centre. The total solution, including servers, was supplied as a service offering.

What is driving customers' server projects?

Business transformation and security have been key to driving customers' server projects. This will continue as expansion from DevOps, IoT, mobility and analytics help to drive business transformation and add value to their customers.

Servers are?

Here to stay, for now. Most cloud environments are hybrid, and we are expecting
this to remain the status quo for some time.
