We speak to chief executive Ben Gilbert.
What unified communication brands and services do you specialise in?
A suite of products in the very broad category of UC. Hosted voice, presence, chat, video and collaboration are all part of UC and our vendor-agnostic model allows us to use the best technology to tailor solutions for our customers.
When did your company first get involved in this area?
CommsChoice listed on the ASX in December 2017, but has been delivering UC solutions since 2004.
What certifications and credentials do you have that apply to UC and collaboration?
CommsChoice engineers have a range of qualifications and certifications that depends on the type of solution that fits customer requirements.
Who are your distribution partners for UC?
Ingram Micro.
Have you heard about any interesting development in the enterprise UC space recently?
WebRTC is changing the UC landscape. It’s an open source project that enables real-time communication of audio, video and data in web and native apps. WebRTC offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to interacting with customers, prospects and employees.
Can you tell us about a recent UC deployment you have done?
Bridging Microsoft Cloud PABX with traditional PABX systems. To do this, we essentially bolt on the video and collaborative features from Microsoft to the company’s existing PABX.
What is driving customers’ collaboration projects?
Many customers seem to be aligning with the Microsoft roadmap but are reluctant to go “all in” with Microsoft.
Unified communications and collaboration is …
A very broad area of technology and has a different meaning to different people. It is very important to understand any project scope very clearly before designing any solution.
