We speak with MIT Services general manager Brendon Major

What laptop and hybrid brands do you specialise in?

We have partnerships in place for Microsoft, Acer, Dell and HP. We can also sell Lenovo, ASUS and other brands as well.

When did your company first get involved in this area?

MIT has been involved in laptops since it came about in July 2009.

What are your credentials in this area?

Most of them are just hardware certifications from the vendors themselves.

Which distributors do you use?

The two big ones would probably be Bluechip Infotech and Ingram Micro.

Heard about any cool developments in this space recently?

They've all got their exciting bits of news. The Acer product that has the flip-over screen looks fantastic. You have to give kudos to Microsoft in the first place, they really led the charge on the cross between a tablet and a laptop.

Can you tell us about a recent deployment you’ve done?

We've done a couple of deployments and we have a couple coming up. Being the end of financial year for most independent schools in Canberra, it's when they start updating their laptop fleets and bring-your-own-device offerings and so on. We have a portal that the students and parents can log onto to buy equipment for particular schools which really aligns to that BYOD functionality.

What is driving sales in laptops and hybrids?

Price, really. There is also the mobility movement which has always been there.
