Cameron handed Lenovo hotseat
Industry veteran Phil Cameron has been appointed as managing director A/NZ for PC vendor Lenovo. Effective immediately, Cameron succeeds Alan Munro, who has relocated to an international role within Lenovo.

Cameron has a wealth of experience in the IT industry, most recently as corporate sales director for Lenovo A/NZ since the company’s acquisition of the IBM PC Division in May 2005. Previously, he was channel manager for IBM Personal Computing Division A/NZ. Cameron also worked for Toshiba for more than a decade as national sales manager, and in a range of other business and marketing roles.

“My immediate focus is to look after our existing customers in medium to large businesses, government and education organisations across Australia and New Zealand,” said Cameron. “We have a solid reputation as preferred PC partner for them with our best engineered ThinkPads and ThinkCentres. The next frontier is that our new consumer range of IdeaPad and IdeaCentre notebook and desktop computers are being snapped up by Australians everywhere, who are finding us in local Domayne, Dick Smith Electronics and Powerhouse stores.”

David Miller, vice-president for Lenovo Asia Pacific, welcomed Cameron’s appointment: “Phil has been a key figure in the leadership team of Lenovo over the past three years – he has won the respect of his peers, team and customers. He has developed a strong sales team and helped drive our corporate, education and public sector business to the strong position we enjoy today. I am confident that under Phil’s direction, Lenovo will continue to go from strength to strength in Australia and New Zealand.”
