Nokia’s general manager for Australia and New Zealand, Shaun Colligan, has left his position to join a mobile phone retailer under investigation by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Colligan has been appointed to the newly created post of general manager for eCommerce at Allphones.

“The mobile communications market is moving at lightening speed and Allphones sees a great untapped potential for us in the online world. Our eCommerce division has been created to build Allphones’ online presence, complementing our new retail channel, in addition to developing new services for mobile communications consumers,” said Matthew Donnellan, CEO of Allphones.

“With his extensive experience at the helm of the leading mobile handset company in Australia, Shaun Colligan is the perfect man for the job of leading Allphones eCommerce and we are absolutely delighted that he will be joining our team in August,” he said.

Donnellan said the firm’s eCommerce division has been created to build Allphones’ online presence, complementing its new retail channel, in addition to developing new services for mobile communications consumers.

The appointment comes as Allphones continues to defend itself in the Federal Court against allegations the company was attempting to weed out under-achieving business partners.

The ACCC has alleged Allphones attempted to force the lowest-selling 10 percent of its franchisees to sell their businesses.

Allphones has a network of more than 165 stores nationally and claims to sell more mobile phones in Australia than any other independent retailer.
