The good news for gadget tragics is that Apple's 3G iPhone will finally be available in Oz around mid-July. That so much hype is being generated over a phone that should have been 3G ever since it launched just proves Apple is good at marketing.

Opinion: Seven wonders

Opinion: Seven wonders

Whenever the human race considers matters of great importance the number seven seems to regularly crop up. Thus we have the Seven Deadly Sins, and the Seven Wonders of the World. Taking a wild stab in the dark, we're guessing the seven days of the week have something to do with our fascination for this humble prime number. Then again, were we being faithful to our various faiths, we should be looking at six of everything, and then having a day off to get over it. But nobody would be interested in only six sins or just six wonders.

Well, after perusing the latest offerings in the Federal Budget, we are not amused. Yeah, OK, they had to cough up the pre-election bribe of $31 billion in tax cuts, even though they are so paltry you couldn't buy a healthy lunch each day with the weekly savings. Too bad neither side had the gumption before the poll to take a punt on building a 21st century technology-based nation instead of extending the pork barrelling to every pay packet. Just for a few minutes, pause and think what could be done for the state of our broadband with $31bn. Staggering isn't it?
