Potential burn hazard sees Toshiba recall power cords

Toshiba is recalling PC power cords marked LS-15 sold in Australia between 2010 and 2012.

The cords were sold with certain Toshiba notebooks between 1 September 2010 and 30 June 2012.

The affected cord’s electrical insulation may degrade over time, leading to overheating and a possible burn.

Hewlett-Packard also recalled an LS-15 cord in August which was sold with Hewlett-Packard and Compaq notebooks in the same time-period. 6 million cords were recalled in the US and Canada after Hewlett-Packard received 29 reports of overheating and melting.

For affected cords, Toshiba recommends immediately unplugging the PC from AC power and use only battery power. Toshiba is offering a free replacement power cord to affected customers.
