Reseller swaps from HP to Fujitsu after vendor review

PowerNET has moved from HP to Fujitsu for server and storage infrastructure products.

The MSP made the move in April this year and is now sourcing a "wide range" of tower and rack-mounted server and storage from Fujitsu, said new public manager Andrew Griffioen.

PowerNET has counted HP as a major partner since 2008, and although it has moved to Fujitsu for servers and storage the company still works with HP in other areas of its business.

"Our jump from HP to Fujitsu has been a fairly major one for us. Fujitsu are coming into the midmarket quite aggressively on price. We've been able to leverage that," Griffioen said.

The change follows a review by PowerNET of its technology partnerships.

"We found that we weren't getting the best out of our existing partners," Griffioen said. "We were doing a lot of work for particular partners… but there wasn't much coming back our way, I suppose."

PowerNET has undergone a "massive business transformation" in the last 12 months including a new management framework, hiring of 15 new staff, the rollout of Connectwise and an account management team.

PowerNET has also partnered with Dropbox competitor Soonr to offer cloud storage services.

The MSP also revealed it has won a managed services contract with paper manufacturing giant Australian Paper.

The firm is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and will relaunch its brand and MSP services around August or September.

PowerNET was started by current director Jacob Ohlson in 1994 in Melbourne. The company now has more than 50 staff in offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.
