RIM has announced the resignation of Australia and New Zealand managing director Adele Beachley, with Asia Pacific vice president Urpo Karjalainen appointed as her interim replacement.
The company gave no specific reason for the move except to say that the once-lauded former boss had moved on to “pursue other interests”.
Beachley was seen as one of the driving forces for RIM in the Asia Pacific and other areas, having been one of the company’s first significant hires in the region.
"[Beachley] played a leadership role in growing RIM's carrier footprint across the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. RIM appreciates Adele's past contributions and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours,” the company said in a statement.
Her departure follows the exit last month of RIM’s global CEO’s James "Jim" Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis.
They have been replaced by Thorsten Heins who had been chief operating officer before moving up to the top job.
