Logitech: "No longer keyboards and mouse"

George Saad, director at Logitech Australia, told CRN, he has worked on a channel program to help the vendor identify where it can go with its resellers and how they can add value.

As part of the revamped program, Logitech has created a Platinum section.

The vendor has also refined the number of resellers from 22 to six platinum partners.

Saad said the vendor has refined its channel partners to include distributors, Ingram Micro and Synnex.

Platinum distributors include: Bluchip Infotech, Anyware Computer Accessories, Mittoni and All Interactive Distribution.

Platinum resellers include: Centrecom Corporate, Fluidtek, and Wireless1.

"Logitech is no longer a keyboard and mouse company. We are targeting areas like gaming, with the recent addition of All Interactive Distribution and we are in talks to take on a platinum reseller in the music market."

Nick Angelucci, product and marketing manager at Logitech Australia, told CRN, the vendor is ready to move forward with its channel plans because non-traditional resellers were reaching out.

"Recently an antenna repair person worked on a job for Jim's Mowing services and they came to us and said we want to sell one of your Harmony remotes for its TV set."

"We are getting guys that don't traditionally sell IT products wanting to replicate what we have done with mass merchant retailers.

"This gives resellers the opportunity to branch out into other fields and not fight for marketshare," said Angelucci.

To push its channel drive, Saad has hired Paul D'Ambra as national channel sales manager.

Paul D'Ambra previously worked for Dick Smith Electronics."We wanted to reengage our platinum program and allow partners in specialty areas to leverage our strategy in mass merchant retail.

"I wanted to look at how the partners fit in with the vendor," said Angelucci.
