Stuart Smith, group CEO of Cellnet, told CRN, it will focus its distribution on telecommunications and AV products with vendors such as Siemens, Navman, RPhone accessories and others.
"The returns on working capital [in these areas] are optimal," said Smith and added that associated IT vendors had been notified.
"We're working on an exit plan in an orderly fashion," he said.
"A procurement manager called the vendors by phone to let them know.
"He will meet with the vendors face to face between the 1st and 2nd of July to discuss the situation further."
Smith said Cellnet's IT resellers were surprised by the decision.
"We have worked with other suppliers like Datastor in New Zealand and Avnet in Australia, to ensure a seamless transition," said Smith.
He added some local staff were let go during the sale with Avnet.
"In Australia we have had let go of six staff, with a further nine moving to Avnet."
