Want to become a certified cloud expert but don’t want to leave the house or office? Well, now you don’t have to.
Amazon Web Services is introducing the option to take the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam from any location, any hour of the day.
The exam can now be completed entirely online and supervised via a webcam. Candidates just need a quiet, private location and a reliable internet connection. AWS also recommends companies that want to proctor exams in their offices to ensure network compatibility first. Candidates should also run a system test on the device and network they plan to use prior to the exam.
The online exams are only available in English at the moment, and can be taken in any country where exams are currently available excluding China, South Korea and Japan. Exams are available every 15 minutes. They still cost the same, US$100 for the full exam and US$20 for a practice exam.
AWS said the Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is intended for those “who have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively demonstrate an overall understanding of the Amazon Web Services Cloud, regardless of their role or title.”
It also “helps professionals build credibility within their organisation or discover more career opportunities,” and is ranked in the top five most popular certifications in most regions, according to the Global Knowledge 2019 IT Skills and Salary Report.
“Organizations benefit from managerial, sales, purchasing, and financial AWS Certified Cloud Practitioners who bring an understanding of the cloud to their roles,” said director of AWS certification and education programs Kevin Kelly in a blog post.
AWS partnered with Pearson VUE in April 2018 to bring certification exams to more locations. Pearson VUE is also responsible for administering the online Certified Cloud Practitioner exams.
