Windows Marketplace appears down, Comodo fix fingered

A security certificate update may be at fault for what appears to be a widespread outage of the Windows Marketplace for mobiles according to reports.

Users have reported that the Marketplace is inaccessible in countries including Australia, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Microsoft rumour sites report that the Marketplace has been down for about five hours at the time of writing. Users who attempted to download applications received an error stating "can not get this info right now. Check back in a little while" .

Users have blamed the outage on the recent patch (7392), which fixed nine fraudulent Comodo certificates, and the preceding NoDo update which introduced copy and paste functionality for Windows phones.

Devices that do not have the NoDo update are reportedly still able to connect to the Marketplace and download applications.

WMPoweruser reports the outage may concern a fault with content licensing.

WinRumors has published a statement from Microsoft that said the company is "investigating these reports and will provide an update when we have more to share”.
