WhiteGold dumps NZ plans for Perth

Dominic Whitehand, managing director of WhiteGold, said it made more sense to move to the western seaboard of Australia, than New Zealand, as previously planned.

He said its vendors conducted a distribution review and decided not to renew one of the three distributors they had on the books.

"The distributor in question was particularly strong for them in WA and so there was a significant opportunity to pick up the business there and develop it further," he said.

"In addition to this, we have been growing our presence in WA with all other vendors and it made great sense to get a local person to drive this and ensure we actively grow the business as quickly as possible."

As part of the move, the local security distributor has hired Louise Aspinall as its WA state manager.

Aspinell has 20 years experience in business development and has worked for IBM, CSC, GE Capital IT, Thales Australia and others.

"She has also worked in South Africa for Acer and founded/ran her own business there for six years (still on the SA Stock Exchange to this day), which she sold prior to moving back to Perth," said Whitehand.

Brian Oostenbroek has also been taken onboard as branch manager of WhiteGold's Brisbane office.

Oostenbroek comes to the distributor from ASI Solutions.

"He has 25 years experience in sales, with 10 of that in IT sales," said Whitehand.

"He is going well and we are getting good traction in the QLD market - and soon we will follow him with an Engineer in Brisbane to supplement his sales efforts and provide local support and training services to our QLD resellers and their end user customers.
