Western Sydney University (WSU) has successfully migrated its production workloads to Microsoft Azure public cloud with services provider Logicalis Australia.
The university, which serves more than 47,000 students spanning 13 campus locations in Sydney, faced the imminent end-of-life of its existing data centre.
Recognising the potential of Microsoft Azure to provide faster deployment, agile development, flexible spending, and enhanced security and scalability, WSU sought a partner to guide this critical transformation.
Logicalis Australia, a certified Azure Expert Managed Service Provider (MSP), was selected for the project due to its agnostic approach and strong partnership with Microsoft.
The company designed an enterprise-scale Azure Landing Zone based on Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework, providing a scalable and modular architecture for hosting workloads in the cloud.

The newly implemented platform now supports a range of student services.
They include the Western Mobile App, with several key benefits delivered such as agile development and deployment, "signficant" annual savings in IT operational and managed service costs, and enhanced security and resiliency.
WSU will also enjoy access to ongoing innovations with the cloud-based system.
The successful migration and digital landscape transformation for WSU, Logicalis Australia earnt the title of Microsoft's 2024 Azure Partner of the Year for Australia and New Zealand.
Thanks to the project, with a scalable and replicable engagment model that was developed through the partnership, Logicalis Australia also won a spot as a finalist in the 2024 CRN Impact Awards.
