Despite a lack of faith in the home convergence market, IT distributor Westan has signed another AV vendor to its stables.
The company has added Usher Audio Technology and its range of high-end speaker products.
Usher parted ways with previous distributor Audio Connection. The company's MD Josef Riediger claimed the vendor's products were failing to sell.
The IT distributor first moved into the home entertainment market with the purchase of QTD distributions in 2004, which has since rolled into the company.
According to Westan’s founder and managing director, Victor Aghtan, the consumer digital home market had been difficult to break into.
“All this talk about convergence and it really hasn’t happened yet - the AV channel still sticks with AV product and IT with IT," he said. "Intel and Microsoft will play a big part in changing this situation with products like the Viiv platform and Microsoft Vista.”
Despite this, Aghtan claimed having Usher onboard would establish Westan as a serious AV distributor.
