Vodafone’s Internet Stick is a ‘plug and play’ with built-in, automatically installed software. The product will be out through Vodafone stores, Myer, Crazy Johns, Allphones and select Vodafone dealers.
Media representative at Vodafone Australia, Jessica Forrest told CRN that the 'Internet stick' can be an alternative to fixed ADSL service and can also be used as a flash memory drive for storing music, photos and files - with a MicroSD slot capable of holding a memory card up to 4GB.
“Vodafone has seen significant growth in Mobile Broadband over the past 12 months and expects it will continue to be a popular alternative to fixed line ADSL,” she said.
According to Forrest, Vodafone Mobile Broadband plans start from $19.95 per month for 1GB, which is generally enough for downloading around 100 music tracks, streaming about 200 video clips and sending around 2,000 emails.
The device can operate to the 7.2MBps standard on Vodafone’s 3G broadband (HSPA) network, which is currently being upgraded, Forrest said.
