Victoria's public sector departments will gain access to enhanced data capabilities through a new partnership between shared technology provider for the state's agencies, Cenitex, and cloud computing firm Snowflake.
The collaboration aims to accelerate technology implementation for government agencies, with potential deployment times as short as 24 hours for departments with existing memorandums of understanding.
The platform includes built-in artificial intelligence features, including enterprise language models and application development tools, which departments can access when ready to implement AI solutions.
Being cloud-agnostic, the platform allows government entities to share data regardless of their existing infrastructure, whether using Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or legacy systems.
"This speed of deployment will enable participating Victorian state government entities to consolidate and enhance their data strategies while also enabling greater security and easier cross-department data sharing," Scott Tivendale, chief information officer at Cenitex said.
"Snowflake's security, privacy, data governance, and cloud-agnostic capabilities were all considered as strengths for the platform, helping promote data sovereignty for agencies and departments," Tivendale added.
"The public sector is constantly looking to deliver better digital services, but doing so requires clean, well-governed, secured, and accessible data," Theo Hourmouzis, vice president for Australia and New Zealand at Snowflake said.
