Victorian company joins Tokyo schools project

A Victorian company has partnered with a Japanese university for an e-learning research project in Tokyo schools.

Victoria-based Etech Group has joined Waseda University and Japanese broadband provider Data Pacific for an 18 month research and development project.

The project involved deployment of Etech Group's Studywiz eLearning platform throughout Tokyo's primary and secondary schools.

Marsha Thomson, Minister for Information and Communication Technology, said the partnership was the first tangible result of the Victorian ICT trade mission to Japan.

"This project will not only raise the profile of Etech Group but also the profile of Victoria's highly-talented e-learning industry," she said in a statement.

Victoria's ICT delegation to Japan comprised 50 individuals representing 34 organisations.

Thomson said she expected the Etech Group announcement would be the first of a number of partnerships to arise from the trade mission.

"All of the participating organisations have and will continue to be great ambassadors for Victoria and our ICT industry," Thomson said.
