Victoria Police’s chief information officer Michael Vanderheide has been appointed the new chief executive officer (CEO) of CenITex, the shared services IT organisation that exclusively serves Victorian Government agencies.
Vanderheide formally replaces former CenITex CEO Peter Blades, who retired in March 2011. Jim Monaghan has been Acting CEO during the recruitment process.
Vanderheide has been CIO at Victoria Police since October 2009 and would start at CeniTex in July.
Prior to Victoria Police he led a similar seven-year effort to CenITex for the ACT Government as ‘Head of Shared Services’ (2006 – 2009) and general manager of InTACT (2003 to 2007).
The two organisations share some common traits – providing ICT services to government agencies on roughly the same scale.
InTACT serves the IT needs of all ACT Government agencies with 600 staff and a budget of $120 million, CenITex does the same for 10 Victorian Government departments and two agencies with 500 staff with a budget of around $100 million.
