Microsoft Australia's first managing director, Linda Graham-McCann, will take the reigns of WorkVentures, which supplies refurbished computers to low-income households.
McCann is credited with being instrumental in establishing Microsoft's partnership with the not-for-profit in 1986, one which continues strong today.
She said she would carry on the role of the group's late founder and former CEO Steve Lawrence. "Back in those early days, Steve had the foresight to see the opportunity that access to and knowledge of technology would offer," said McCann.
"I'm honoured to again be involved with WorkVentures and to carry on the enduring work accomplished by Steve and the team over the past 35 years.
"My mission is to simply position WorkVentures to continue its success for the next thirty five years; helping folks to gain valuable IT skills that can aid them to find employment, communicate with their family and communities and obtain the necessities of life when mobility or isolation is an issue."
WorkVentures recently sold its 50,000th computer through its not-for-profit computer refurbishing division Connect IT, which uses disused computer donations from Australian organisations and repurposes them with donated MS software to offer affordable technology for low income Australians.
