Australian developer UniPix has re-launched its ERP system as a fully-hosted service and chosen Macquarie Telecom as its managed hosting partner.
UniPix said in a statement that its flagship ERP software, Online Advantage, was being made available as a fully-hosted service via Macquarie Telecom's Intellicentre offering.
Rob Ellis, managing director at UniPix, said signing up Macquarie to provide the service would open up a new market for the developer.
"We can offer mid-sized businesses the opportunity to access business critical applications previously only available to large organisations," Ellis claimed.
UniPix ERP was currently used by manufacturers, wholesale distributors and in e-commerce transactions. It could oversee such tasks as financial control, stock forecasting and order processing, he said.
Ellis said that Macquarie Telecom would offer availability, reliability and security to UniPix customers via its managed security services.
Macquarie Telecom was chosen mainly for its BS7799 security certification, DSD Certified Gateway and physical set-up, Ellis said.
"Its multi-carrier network and redundancy offers a variety of connectivity options and minimises the risk of system failure," Ellis said.
Speed of delivery had previously been a problem but had been solved in the new offering, he added.
"In the past, prior to implementation we spent time acquiring and configuring servers and ancillary equipment," said Ellis.
"With a managed hosting model, we can deploy in hours because it is all set up ready to go. Now, we make one change and it is replicated across all users on all sites."
Macquarie Telecom managed hosting would also let UniPix offer fixed-price computing, on a per-user per-month basis.
Glen Noble, data and hosting manager at Macquarie Telecom, said managed hosting helped companies concentrate on their core businesses.
"Critical applications are being managed and monitored in a robust, secure environment by a team of engineers," Noble said.
