Asus’ Transformer Pad Infinity will hit Australian shelves on the 8th August, in line with a global release.
The laptop/tablet hybrid was first unveiled at CES in January, with Asus touting it as the first Android tablet with a full HD (1920 x 1200) screen, compared to the standard 1280x800 resolution seen on similar Android devices.
Asus today confirmed to CRN the device will retail from $999 for the 64GB model including QWERTY keyboard dock. The keyboard converts the tablet to a notebook while also boosting battery.
Asus claims the dock-attached Transformer Pad Infinity offers up to 14 hours constant use battery life, and 9.5 hours without it.
It will sell through JB HiFi, Bing Lee, Harvey Norman among other Asus authorised resellers.
A spokesperson told CRN late last month a 32GB model will follow in September for $799.
The device packs a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 8MP camera, and USB and SD card ports.
It is coated in Corning Gorilla Glass and is 8.5mm thick.
The device will run on Android's Ice Cream Sandwich OS but will be updated with Google’s recently announced Jelly Bean OS in the near future.
