TOWER in $45.2M US defence deal

Australian software developer TOWER Software has signed its largest contract ever, a $45.2 million deal to rollout its software at US Department of Defense agencies.

The five-year project would see the company roll out and maintain its TRIM Context enterprise content management (ECM) software at the US military services, Defense Department, intelligence agencies and Coast Guard.

These agencies would use the software to manage and secure their information assets, TOWER said in a statement. The deal was co-ordinated by HQ Operations & Sustainment Group, the US Air Force’s information technology procurement organisation.

TOWER had previously done work with the US Navy and US Army.

Martin Harwood, managing director at Tower Software, said in a statement that the US Navy currently runs the biggest ECM solution in the world, with current deployment of 360,000 seats.

“With this agreement, we expect the number of users of TRIM Context solutions within the US military and related agencies to exceed one million.”

Meanwhile, TOWER has acquired web content management (WCM) assets from Australian developer Rapid Web Solutions.

Rapid would refocus its business from software development to service delivery. The company would also join TOWER’s partner program to deliver ECM software to the world market next year, TOWER said.
