Todaytech has unveiled locally-assembled notebooks under its new ‘Macron’ brand, following requests from resellers that don’t have the resources to do their own building.
The company offers unbranded ‘bare-bone’ laptops to larger resellers with the resources to assemble machines, but smaller resellers were requesting that TodayTech do the assembly on their behalf, according to Jennifer Hsieh, marketing manager at Todaytech.
“They want the finished product and they want it branded,” Hsieh said.
There are currently two models in the range. The first build-to-order laptop the PW50 uses the Intel Dothan 1.73MHz CPU, DDR memory of up to 2GB, a Fujitsu SATA hard disk drive, 15.5 inch wide LCD screen and 128MB ATI X700 graphics card.
The second model, the PW70, also ships with the Intel Dothan 1.73Mhz chip and up to 2GB of memory but includes a 17 inch high-res LCD screen, and 256MB X800 graphics card.
Resellers can order a range of configurations with both machines.
By the end of Q1, the company would have six Macron models available for the channel.
