The latest cloud provider to tackle Canberra has landed

The latest cloud provider with government clients in its sights has opened its doors in Canberra, led by entrepreneur Rob Slattery.

The company is called Australian Capital Digital Cloud, or AusCapDC for short. The company launched in June 2018, but has only recently made its presence known by announcing its spot on the whole of government cloud services panel, which allows it to sell infrastructure-as-a-service and consulting services to federal government agencies.

AusCapDC’s cloud is located within an uptime tier III certified facility in Mitchell, ACT and is built on Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure, delivering public and private cloud services.

“We believe that we are the only cloud services provider whose primary differentiator is we provide three domains (Dev, Pre-Prod and Prod) by choice rather than only one domain as do other providers. This allows us to deliver a high-speed sandbox capability to developers before putting applications into production,” said Slattery.

He added that the company was also preparing specific converged services including cognitive computing, unified collaboration, cloud enterprise voice and a customer relationship management offering.

“Our website identifies the various ‘standard’ services you would expect from an IaaS/PaaS/SaaS operator. However, specialist service offerings also include Virtual Desktop capabilities for Schools or small business enterprises, to protect against claims of mismanagement and/or abuse (particularly for those which function in a BYOD space),” said Slattery.

AusCapDC is also working to certify its cloud to ‘Protected’ status, allowing it to host classified government data on its behalf, a certification only a handful of cloud providers have achieved including Microsoft Azure and AWS.

The company also has a social conscious in mind, with Slattery adding: “AusCapDC does not identify as an Indigenous Business, but we will show our respect to Traditional Custodians and will uphold our Corporate Social Responsibility obligation to give back to community.”
