Telstra will upgrade 300 St George Bank sites to fibre services as part of a five-year extension of its services partnership with Westpac.
This will be the first time the St George Bank network has fallen under Telstra's remit, according to a spokesperson.
The work will include upgrades to St George's corporate and branch communications network, which will be moved to Telstra.
The work is part of a significant extension to the telco's existing relationships with the banking group. A five-year agreement between the two companies was announced today.
The partnership will see Telstra supply Westpac's domestic data network, primary internet access, outbound voice and Pacific Bank telecommunications.
Services will include solutions management, including network connectivity, digital media solutions, Wi-Fi, audio conferencing and data centre connectivity, according to a statement.
The agreement applies across all brands of the Westpac Group.
The deal follows continued growth for Telstra's services division, which reported a 29 percent increase in revenues in the first half of 2014.
Westpac has undergone several changes to its IT division recently, including the appointment of a new head of its IT infrastructure team.
