Telstra signs up Polycom for video conferencing package
According to Paul Geason executive director, Convergent Sales, Telstra, the company was adopting this new approach to high definition video conferencing, known as 1 Touch Video, in response to customer demand.

“Video conferencing is fast becoming a critical tool in the business tool-box and 1 Touch Video service makes it even more accessible by removing the complexity traditionally involved with dealing with multiple people,” said Geason.

“Quite simply our customers can pay a flat monthly fee, similar to a mobile plan, for a HD video conferencing service that takes care of the design, install, network and maintenance, with no upfront costs,” he added.

The 1 Touch Video service will initially offer customers the choice of a meeting room sized High Definition video conference over dual screen on the Polycom HDX 8004 or the smaller Polycom HDX 4002XL.

Australian based company, Broadreach Services, has worked with Telstra to deliver the video within the Telstra Next IP network.

The service will initially be available for metro sites with plans to roll out to regionally in the New Year.

“Telstra’s robust IP Video Network enables users to experience life-like collaboration in true High Definition through Polycom’s market leading HD range,” said Michael Chetner, managing director Polycom A/NZ.

Shaun Wormald, managing director of Broadreach Services, said his company was pleased to be working with Telstra, RADVISION and Polycom to build and deliver this unique business value proposition to the Australian market.

“We believe this will be a defining moment for the availability of high-quality, easy-to-use video services to business in Australia,” he said.
