Telstra has invested in application delivery services startup Instart Logic.
The US company’s platform uses machine learning to predict user behaviour and enables users to interact with a page before all the elements have finished loading.
It also provides multi-layered security capabilities against DDoS and other cybersecurity attacks.
Telstra Ventures managing director Mark Sherman said the investment was an opportunity for Telstra to access Instart’s technology, which he says can reduce the download size of an application by more than 30 percent.
“Given mobility continues to be one of the top trends in the technology space, we are excited to start the year with an investment in Instart Logic,” said Sherman.
“Their end-to-end application delivery platform combines machine learning for performance and security with a CDN for delivery.”
Instart is based in Palo Alto, California and has 500 websites using its application delivery services globally. It lists The Washington Post, Shutterstock and L’Oreal among its customers.
Telstra has its own startup incubator called Muru Digital, which invested around $200,000 in Australian startups last year.
