Telstra has promoted Shailin Sehgal to the role of group executive of global networks and technology, replacing Nikos Katinakis who left late last year.
Seghal joined the company in June 2019 and has been leading the company's network, applications and cloud engineering team - a role where he introduced fixed and wireless technology as well as cloud products and managed services, Telstra said.
With over 25 years' telecommunications industry experience, Sehgal has served in leadership positions at Mavenir, Jio, Genband, Verizon Enterprise Systems and Nortel Networks.
His appointment comes after Katinakis’ decided to leave Telstra in October 2023 after a five-year stint at the company, having since become CTO of US network services company Zayo.
"In a world where demand for connectivity and data is accelerating, Shailin's strong track record and experience will be invaluable in delivering our network ambitions," Telstra's CEO Vicki Brady said.
"We have a long history of global and domestic network leadership, operating Australia's best, largest and most reliable mobile network and I look forward to Shailin's leadership in driving this forward."
