Brisbane-headquartered Technology One will spend up to $12 million buying Perth software firm Digital Mapping Solutions (DMS), which provides mapping tools used by local councils across Australia.
DMS supplies the Intramaps web-based mapping product, which has 80 local government users across Australia and New Zealand, including more than 20 councils in NSW.
A significant proportion of the price is payable on the achievement of an earn-out.
The deal adds to Technology One’s extensive foothold in the local government sector in Australia, in addition to its wide install base among local universities. The company has previously reported it has more than 200 councils using its One Council software, with over 70 percent of the largest 100 councils in Australia and New Zealand using its software.
In January, Technology One announced a $10 million acquisition of Gold Coast firm Icon software, which provides local government planning software.
DMS is the trading name of Desktop Mapping Systems. Its Intramaps product allows corporate data to be made accessible in an interactive map, viewable through a web browser.
The company lists Bathurst-based Chartis Technology as an implementation partner. The partner works with at least 20 NSW councils that use Intramaps. A Technology One spokesperson told CRN the company is “expecting this arrangement to continue as it had done with DMS”.
DMS software opens up “innovative possibilities to use spatial data in ways that have not previously been possible,” according to a Technology One statement to the ASX.
