Tax accountant shuns legacy IT for hosted desktop from ITonCloud

Sydney tax advisory Titan Partners has migrated its IT environment to a private cloud and Citrix-hosted desktop provided by Sydney-based ITonCloud.

Titan Partners is now "running its whole business" on the cloud desktop platform, including email, data, practice management, business applications and all client accounting software, according to a statement from ITonCloud.

While cloud accounting flourishes, driven by Xero and MYOB, "accounting firms have been slow to adopt cloud technology in their own businesses, with most still favouring on-premise servers", according to ITonCloud. Titan Partners "is breaking this trend".

Shane McLauchlan, general manager at Titan Partners, told CRN: "Titan previously hosted their environment on a private cloud delivered by another provider."

The 38-staff accountancy firm chose ITonCloud after going to market for a supplier. "Once we made the decision, the transition process was very smooth. ITonCloud took the time to work through the integration process so on go-live day everything was 100 percent up and running,” McLauchlan said.

ITonCloud chief executive Andrew Tucker said: "By using our cloud desktop platform, Titan Partners’ employees can access their desktops and applications from any internet-enabled computer or mobile device with absolute security and speed.

"Titan Partners does not have to worry about any upgrades, maintenance or even backups, it’s all done automatically without any downtime for the users."

Tucker explained that the company operates its own private cloud out of two data centres in Australia, Equinix and iSeek Communications. "We run a combination of HPE and Dell servers in both data centres with everything being redundant."

He added that ITonCloud used the full Microsoft stack and had Citrix "as the underlying platform to deliver our desktop".

ITonCloud's core business involves migrating mid-market customers to its private cloud infrastructure. Last year CRN reported its deal to migrate biochemistry researcher TGR to the cloud.
