Sydney's IT On Cloud migrates biochem company to Equinix, iSeek

Sydney-based cloud services provider IT On Cloud has landed a deal to migrate biochemistry researcher TGR’s infrastructure to the cloud.

IT On Cloud migrated all of TGR’s data to its two data centres, operated by Equinix and iSeek Communications. TGR’s fully managed hosted desktop has been mirrored across both data centres, including backup and disaster recovery. The deal also includes on-going services and maintenance.

TGR's applications include science analytic software Prism, Microsoft Exchange and accounting software.

Its entire network infrastructure was hosted on-premise and managed by a single TGR staffer with “an interest in IT” according to chief executive Anne Hinton. Despite recently upgrading from Windows Server 2003 to Small Business Server 2011, problems persisted.

“We were having trouble accessing our servers overseas with our servers getting old,” said Hinton.

“We had a number of different servers all run by one person from in-house IT support. We distribute worldwide, with 95 percent of our business overseas, so it was important to have someone who could readily respond if anything came up.

“ITonCloud was recommended to us by one of our peers, who is using them very successfully. They came in and evaluated the IT environment and made recommendations. Migration was very quick. The whole process took less than a month – from site analysis to deployment.”
