Synnex A/NZ has added another vendor to its ranks with the signing of Taiwan-based Transcend. The company is best known for its MP3 player, portage storage device, flash card and memory modules.
The agreement extends to A/NZ a relationship which has existed between the distributor’s Taiwan headquarters and the vendor for five years.
Synnex joins Cassa, West Group in Canberra and Achieva on Transcend’s distribution list. However, Synnex would be the first distributor to offer the complete Transcend product range to the reseller channel, said Yuchen Liao, associate product manager, at Synnex.
“We are looking to bring the whole range but we’ll do it slowly. At the moment we have flash, next month we’ll have memory modules for system builders and in two to three months time, MP3 and storage,” he said.
Synnex also distributes Kingston memory products and its own label dubbed “Lemel.”
It was the first time Synnex had taken on an MP3 product line and Transcend would be its third portage storage supplier, adding to existing agreements with Seagate and Western Digital, Liao said.
