Synnex pushes 'ruggedised' computing

The distie is pushing 'ruggedised' computing following the launch of Getac's new B300 notebook.

The hazard-proof B300 is powered by Intel's new generation of processors, features a 34 percent improvement in graphics and boasts superior connectivity, all wrapped in a body that is dust, drop and water resistant.

It is available in two processor configurations, both from Intel's fourth-generation range: a core i5 operating at 2.6GHz or a more powerful core i7 at 2.9GHz.

Getac country manager Frank Bryan said the company was "first to market with the latest in Intel processing power within a rugged device, and we’re confident users will benefit from improved speeds and communications capabilities".

The new B300 also benefits from improved connectivity with dual-band AC Wi-Fi compatibility and Bluetooth 4.0.

"Rugged devices must have the ability to process large amounts of data, and connect quickly and seamlessly to other technologies," Bryan said.

"The new B300 more than rises to those challenges, while maintaining the benefits that have made the product so successful to date. It’s engineered to be faster, and run for longer, than almost any other rugged device on the market."

Further distinguishing the B300 is a GPS chipset capable of pinpointing the notebook's location within 2.5 metres. It also benefits from ANSI certification, which means the B300 can be used in a variety of hazardous environments, such as locations where flammable gases are present.

The Getac B300 is available for ordering in Australia now with a suggested retail price of $4,495.
