Synnex adds Office 365 backup with Barracuda deal

Synnex has secured a distribution deal with backup and disaster recovery vendor Barracuda Networks.

The partnership spans more than a dozen products, including next-gen firewalls, web security, load balancing as well as Barracuda's cloud backup options.

There are a range of deployment options, including "a Barracuda physical appliance, virtual appliance, cloud-to-cloud backup or specifically Office 365 backup deployment solutions", said Michael Tea, general manager, e-commerce and cloud services at Synnex Australia.

"Evaluation units can be purchased at discounted rates by partners if they need to run proof of concepts with their end clients, which helps our partners win more deals," he added.

Synnex provides Microsoft Office 365 open licensing, and resellers can complement Office 365 sale with Barracuda products, said the distributor's Australia and New Zealand chief executive, Kee Ong.

“Solutions such as the Barracuda cloud-to-cloud backup for Office 365 is a great add-on service for partners with an existing cloud migration and backup services offering," he said.

Barracuda's vice-president of Asia-Pacific sales, James Forbes-May, said solutions that enhance the capabilities of Office 365 include networking and application security for public cloud, backup and archiving for hybrid environments and cloud-based centralised management.

“Today flexibility of licensing, deployment options, purchasing and billing are critical success factors for IT," added Forbes-May.

Synnex partners can head to the distributor's cloud marketplace to order Barracuda SaaS products, which provide an "added layer of simplified management, protection and scalability".

Barracuda joins a number of recent vendor appointments by Synnex, including NCR, the world leader in ATMs and cash registers, as well as marketing automation vendor Act-On and accounting software vendor MYOB.
