Synergy Plus buys Leading Solutions

ComputerCorp subsidiary Synergy Plus has acquired Leading Solutions from its administrators.

Synergy Plus has today gained control of the Leading Solutions business and the acquisition will be completed by 25 November 2009.

Peter Cappendell, acting chief executive officer of ComputerCorp told CRN its immediate focus was to work with the administrators and staff.

Cappendell said the administrators terminated all of Leading Solutions' employees on Friday 13th November.

"I am very conscious Leading's staff and customers have been through a difficult time both preceding and during the administration period and we want to provide certainty moving forward," he said.

"I will be at the Leading office in Melbourne on Monday morning to meet with staff [and] hope to meet with all the staff throughout next week with a view to making immediate offers to a number of staff."

The actual number will depend on the current customer requirements, said Cappendell.

However, the integrator will continue to service Leading Solutions' existing clients and service contracts.

According to Cappendell, the purchase was in line with the strategy of Synergy Plus to increase its market of the east coast.

"Synergy Plus' business objective is to have 60 percent [of the business] aligned with the east coast and this is one step towards establishing this increased footprint moving into 2010," he said.

According to Cappendell, Synergy and Leading Solutions share most of the same distribution and vendor partners.

Last month, McGrathNicol took control of the privately-owned business and its assets after Leading Solutions went into voluntary administration.

"Our focus will be to immediately ensure any outstanding customer orders can be fulfilled," he said. ComputerCorp reignited its interest in purchasing Leading Solutions at the end of October.

Last month, CRN confirmed that the ASX-listed company was once again "looking closely" at the Leading Solutions business in the wake of the latter's entry into voluntary administration. 

Earlier this month ComputerCorp officially changed the trading name of its operations to 'Synergy Plus' to promote its national focus and transition into managed services.

Synergy Plus has about 330 IT professionals in 11 locations providing services ranging from desktop break/fix all the way to enterprise data centre management, including mid range systems, virtualisation and unified communications.
