Scroggie is the vice president and managing director for the Pacific Region of the Symantec Corporation.
He replaces Jacob Van der Eyk who held the post for three years and stepped down last week following his departure from his role at Computer Associates.
Scroggie claimed his appointment underlines Symantec's commitment to the promotion of standards and the education program for data storage and
information management.
"We have a very strong board of directors who I look forward to working with, and a compelling value proposition to offer our members and the wider storage community as we extend our strategic plan,” he said.
The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) is a not-for-profit global organisation made up of more than 420 active member companies plus their worldwide affiliates and close to 7,100 active individuals spanning virtually the entire storage industry.
Besides, Symantec’s Scroogie, the board of directors for 2008 also includes; Bill Taylor-Mountford of Acronis; Andrew Vranjes of Alphawest; Scott Campey of Clonnaugh; Ronnie Altit of Dimension Data; Manfred Hering of EDS; Clive Gold of EMC; Ross Harper of HDS; Mark Nielsen of HP; Stuart Lewis of IBM; Graham Rothwell of NAB; Scott Morris of NetApp; and Kate Walker of RMAA.
