Sydney's IT Consultancy Group adds 100 customers in acquisition

Two Sydney IT companies are preparing to merge this month, with The IT Consultancy Group set to acquire network specialist Genisyst.

Based in Hornsby in North Sydney, Genisyst is a multi-carrier and diverse-path WAN, internet and network specialist provider.

ITConsult, on the other hand, is a managed service provider specialising in infrastructure and data centre consulting.

The two companies began formally working together two-and-a-half years ago, with Genisyst managing WAN connections for ITConsult's customers.

When ITConsult began expanding its managed services offerings into disaster recovery and infrastructure, the company required more gigabit WAN connections. ITConsult managing director Steven Parsonage said it made sense to combine the two companies to offer an end-to-end managed service.

“Bringing in the Genisyst business gives our clients options for full end-to-end performance and management of their infrastructure," said Parsonage.

"We can provide converged networks with a range of carriers complete with full redundancy and diversity that many business need.”

He added that ITConsult expects to gain just 100 new customers through the acquisition

Genisyst will bring four of its staff into ITConsult's St Ives office, bringing the combined headcount to 15. Genisyst will continue to operate under its own branding, but trade as part of ITConsult. Genisyst chief executive David Blandford retired from the company in June.

ITConsult has appeared in the CRN Fast50 in 2011, 2013 and 2015, when it placed No. 28 with 49.64 percent growth to reach $7.4 million.
