Perth-based Critical Room Solutions and surveillance camera company Envirocam have both won deals to help Sydney Trains monitor and respond to incidents, including vandalism and graffiti.
Critical Room Solutions won a $7 million Sydney Trains contract to provide operational video display systems, which will be used at Sydney Trains’ new rail operations centre. This is under construction and is expected to be operational next year.
The screens will provide Sydney Trains staff with a real-time feed of the train network’s activity, allowing for improved responses to events or incidents.
“A competitive tender process for the procurement of digital display screens for use at the rail operations centre was recently awarded to Critical Room Solutions,” a Sydney Trains spokesperson told CRN.
“Bids for this tender were subject to an impartial evaluation and awarded based on best value to the NSW taxpayer.”
Sydney Trains also awarded a surveillance services contract to Envirocam, whose line of surveillance cameras are designed to prevent graffiti, vandalism and illegal dumping of waste. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
“These cameras will have the flexibility to be deployed at locations, such as stabling yards, if we see an increase in graffiti and other vandalism,” the spokesperson said.
