Australian drone technology startup Aerologix has announced a $2 million capital raise and the strategic acquisition of a Brazilian mapping software company, Mappa.
The funding round, led by Nightingale Partners and Ellerston Capital, will aim to propel Aerologix's growth plans as it expands its presence globally.
Founded in 2019 by ex-airline pilot Tom Caska and former technology consultant Rakesh Routhu, Aerologix has successfully onboarded over 29,000 drone pilots since its inception.
With a focus on global expansion, Aerologix has already made strides by launching in New Zealand earlier this year.
Now, the company has set its sights on North and South America and acquired Mappa, a mapping technology company in Brazil.
Building on its existing presence in South America, Mappa will continue to operate as usual under Aerologix's management.
Additionally, Mappa's technology will be incorporated into Aerologix's offering, known as AerologixMaps, which launches globally today.
AerologixMaps seamlessly integrates with the Aerologix Drone Ecosystem, complementing the existing AerologixFly app.
This integration provides drone pilots with access to patented Aeropath software, an automated flight solution specifically designed for inspecting vertical asset structures through the pilot app.
Tom Caska, co-founder and chief executive of Aerologix, said AerologixMaps had generated significant interest from within the company's network.
The solution offers a simple and affordable way of creating maps, attracting over 175 pilots to the waitlist.
Furthermore, AerologixMaps enables the establishment of drone pilot networks abroad without the need to set up physical offices in every country, granting the company a strategic advantage in international markets.
Aerologix's technology supports 135 different drone types, catering to a range of industries, including renewable energy, construction, real estate, and infrastructure.
The company is among a few drone companies onboarded into the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) digital sky platform.
This allows Aerologix to provide its iOS and Android apps with CASA weather updates, location-based information, and maps that outline flying restrictions.
