Waverley Council, located in the inner-eastern suburbs of Sydney, has issued an RFT for digital solutions to streamline waste vehicle operations and reduce inefficiencies in waste collection services.
The solution must be able to capture and record bin lifts; monitor bin contamination; track and plan vehicle routing and provide driver assistance; monitor fuel consumption, engine performance and maintenance needs of waste vehicles; manage customer requests and bookings; and provide a software platform to view and manage all captured data in real-time.
The software platform also needs to integrate with the Council’s existing hardware, vehicles and waste administration systems and databases.
Supplied technology must include installing RFID readers, cameras and telematic devices and sensors into council’s waste collection vehicles. Additional technology may also be required to provide a full solution.
The waste management fleet is comprised of 19 vehicles, and the council currently uses several software programs for bin management, customer requests, mapping and other business processes that include management of waste services.
An EOI for waste management database services was completed in 2019. The EOI sought respondents for the provision of an integrated waste management database system. A selective tender process did not go ahead; Council no longer requires full database system integration.
Solution outcomes include optimised waste collection routing and servicing, improved bin management through digitising the bin identification process using RFID technology, optimising of waste CRM systems, as well as an improvement in operational efficiency via telematics.
The solution also must optimise bin contamination management.
The RFT closes on August 28 at 5:00PM.
